Terms and conditions
Terms and conditions when registering for a program with the James W. Burns Executive Education Centre.
By registering for this program, you are entering into an agreement with the James W. Burns Executive Education Centre (the "Centre"), a unit within the University of Manitoba (the "University"). Registration is subject to the Terms and Policies below.
The following Terms are used throughout:
- "Centre" refers to the James W. Burns Executive Education Centre, a unit within the University of Manitoba, responsible for delivering this Program.
- "University" refers to the University of Manitoba.
- "Program" refers to the Program for which you are registering and delivered by the Centre. Program does not refer to any other academic programs that might be delivered at the University.
- "Participant" refers to a person, in the process of registering or having completed registration for a Program.
- "Organization" refers to an employer or organization or sponsor with whom the Participant is typically employed or associated.
- "Payer" refers to the individual or Organization who has paid for the registration, as completed on the Billing page of the registration form. The Payer may be the Participant, another individual, or an Organization.
A. Cancellation and Refund Policy
All registrations are subject to the following cancellation and refund terms:
- Cancellations must be received in writing.
- All cancellations are subject to a $100 administrative charge except in the case where the cancellation is initiated by the Centre.
- Cancellations received more than 30 calendar days prior to the start of the program will receive a 100% refund, less the administrative charge.
- Cancellations received less than or equal to 30 calendar days but more than 15 calendar days prior to the start of the program will receive a 50% refund, less the administrative charge.
- No refunds are provided for cancellations received less than or equal to 15 calendar days prior to the start of the program.
- Refunds will be provided in the same form of payment as the registration.
- Refunds will be issued to the Payer on the order.
B. Program Cancellation by the Centre
- The Centre reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any program. In the unlikely event that the Centre cancels the program, all program fees will be refunded.
- In the event a Program is rescheduled, Participants will be provided the opportunity to transfer into the rescheduled Program prior to being offered a refund.
- The Centre will strive to provide Participants as much notice as possible, via email, of changes to a program, but acknowledges extenuating circumstances may prevent that in extreme cases.
C. Program Transfer Policy
In the event you are unable to attend the program as originally registered, Participants may transfer to another Program offered by the Centre, subject to the following terms:
- Program Transfers must be completed at least 15 calendar days prior to the start of the Program.
- If the new Program has a higher cost than the previous Program, the difference in cost is required at time of registration. Failure to complete payment will result in the original registration remaining and will be subject to the Cancellation and Refund Policy.
- If the new program has a lower cost than the previous Program:
- If the new Program's cost is $100 or less than the previous Program, no refund will be provided.
- If the new Program's cost is greater than $100 lower than the previous Program, a refund for the difference in price, less $100, will be issued after Day 1 of the new Program.
- Transfers are only available between Programs that start and end within the same fiscal year (April 1 - March 31, each year).
- Organizations that have registered and paid for multiple Participant's to attend the same Program may substitute one Participant for another at no cost up to two business days prior to the start of program.
D. Attendance and Engagement Policy
A significant part of the value of this Program comes from full engagement, collaboration, and participation by being present at each session. Participants are expected to attend each day of a Program for which they are registered.
- Attendance will be taken daily by Centre staff.
- Incomplete attendance and/or failure to complete any required paperwork (which may include, but is not limited to consent forms and waivers) may result in no certificate being issued upon Program completion, if applicable.
- No refunds will be provided due to missed attendance and/or failure to complete any required paperwork.
- The Centre reserves the right to share attendance records with the Participant's Organization or Payer, if applicable.
- Individual Programs may have additional or different attendance requirements. These will be listed on the program page and included in the program outline.
- Exceptions to this policy will only be considered if communicated in advance of a missed session. Exceptions are not guaranteed and may be granted at the sole discretion of the Director.
E. Confidentiality Agreement
In order to maximize participation in the Program, Participants may be asked to share personal or professional stories or information as part of the Program. Through their continued participation, all Participants agree to keep information shared by other Participants confidential except as required by law. In the event this confidentiality is intentionally breached, the University reserves any and all recourse open to it including the ability to prevent future registration.
F. Use of Technology Agreement
Use of on-site technology (including guest wi-fi networks) is subject to the University's Usage Agreement, available on our website.
G. Fee Payment
All fees are due at time of registration.
H. Use of Promotional Codes
The Centre may, from time to time, at its sole discretion, create and issue Promotional Codes (also referred to as Promo Codes, Discount Codes, Coupon Codes, Offer Codes, and other similar titles) for use toward the registration fee for certain programs and offerings. Use of a Promotional Code by a Participant or Payer is subject to the following Terms:
- Promotional Codes are intended solely for the specific recipient, group, or audience to whom they are issued. Use of a Promotional Code by any individual or organization not authorized to receive it is strictly prohibited.
- If a Promotional Code is applied by an individual or organization who is not an intended recipient, the discounted amount may be reversed, and the balance of the full registration fee will become immediately due and payable.
- Repeated misuse or abuse of Promotional Codes may, at the Centre’s sole discretion, result in the suspension or revocation of the individual’s or organization’s ability to register for current or future programs.
- The Centre reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the issuance or use of any Promotional Code at any time, without prior notice or obligation.
- Promotional Codes hold no cash value and may not be redeemed or exchanged for cash, credit, or any other benefit outside their stated purpose.
- Promotional Codes are non-transferable and may not be sold, bartered, or otherwise assigned.
